Decorative Arts

The applied arts of Africa reveal a multitude of technical, aesthetic, social, and historical dimensions. The High Museum’s growing collection of African textiles features works ranging from a silk Kente cloth with a particularly complex pattern to popular, factory-manufactured commemorative cotton textiles emblazoned with images of Kwame Nkrumah, Nelson Mandela, and Barack Obama.

We’re reopening to all members and frontline workers July 7–17 and to all visitors on July 18.
