'Medea' by William Wetmore Story

American Neoclassical Sculpture

In 2010, a significant gift from the West Foundation of Atlanta established a landmark collection of American Neoclassical sculpture at the High Museum. The Museum’s holdings feature mythological, literary, and classical subjects that reflect the taste and concerns of nineteenth century Americans. Artists represented in the collection include Horatio Greenough, William Wetmore Story, Harriet Hosmer, and Hiram Powers.
