High Museum of Art Online

Event Description

On the last Tuesday of every month, our virtual Teacher’s Lounge is the place to be! Join museum educators online as they do a deep dive into an exhibition, work of art, artist, or theme. These forty-five-minute programs will be interactive and informative—and a chance for teachers to relax while viewing art from their home, car, or classroom!

This month, we will discuss contemporary artist El Anatsui and his sculpture Taago. Spanning over six feet tall and ten feet wide, Taago addresses social and environmental issues that are specific to El Anatsui’s life but also have global implications. In 1999, the Nigerian-based artist began a series of works he termed “metal cloth” sculptures, including Taago. Join us as we discuss his process, influences, and current works.

This event is free, but preregistration is required. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the event. Teacher’s Lounge will not take place in December or May.
